First Baptist School seeks to honor God by adhering to Biblical standards of modesty for its staff and students. Elementary and middle school students wear a standard color and style of clothing as our uniform. Preschool students are not bound by the uniform code, but should be dressed in ways that promote Christian morals and values as well as the opportunity to be active in learning and play times. Wearing the school uniform properly starts with a desire to honor God and serve others. Students are urged to embrace the “spirit of the law” as they determine whether clothing they have selected falls within the uniform guidelines.
Students are expected to be in uniform from the time they enter the facility until the time they leave it, including before and after school care. Students not in correct uniform will call home and either clothes must be brought for the student, or the student must be dismissed for the day.
Tops: Polo style, collared shirts are required. Shirts without collars, such as t-shirts, are not acceptable, nor are sleeveless and tank tops. Turtlenecks may be worn under a collared shirt for additional warmth in cold weather, but may not be worn on their own as part of the school uniform.
Colors: White, Light blue, Navy blue
Bottoms: Docker-style uniform shorts and pants are required. Girls may also elect to wear skirts, skorts, or jumpers. Bottoms that are well-fitting in the waist and the length, and are free from rips and tears are expected from all students. Sweat pants are not acceptable on regular uniform days.
Colors: Elementary School – Navy blue
Middle School – Khaki/Beige
Shoes: Students should wear either white or black sneakers/athletic shoes. Boots, shoes with heals or wheels, open-toed or open-backed shoes, and dress shoes are not acceptable. This is primarily a safety rule because of the many steps that we climb in our building.
Legwear: Socks, tights, and/or stockings can be white, navy, or tan.
Outerwear: Plain, solid sweaters, sweatshirts, and/or fleeces can be worn over the top indoors if they are white or navy blue. The only logo that may be worn is the First Baptist School logo. Students wearing sweaters or sweatshirts indoors with any other logo will be asked to remove them. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Coats and jackets intended for outdoor use, including denim jackets, may NOT be worn by any student indoors during the school day.
Gym Day Uniform: . The Gym Day uniform is purchased from a uniform company selected by the school. It consists of a short sleeve t-shirt, a pair of shorts, and a pair of sweatpants with the school logo and name. Optional items, such as sweatshirts and fleeces will also be available for purchase. Each day that a student has gym/P.E., he/she is expected to dress in a Gym Day uniform appropriate for the weather condition. If a student is not dressed in the Gym Day uniform on P.E. day, they must wear a regular school uniform. They may not change uniforms at school as there is neither time nor space available for changing clothes. For elementary students, P.E. is scheduled twice a week. For middle school students, the schedule varies by elective, but will be provided for families. By having this policy, it is our hope that we preserve the quality and durability of the regular school uniform, as well as provide all students with an opportunity to actively and comfortably participate in physical education class. Each family is expected to order one gym uniform, but may order as many items as they choose.
