All teachers and other staff members of First Baptist School sign a statement of faith proclaiming a personal relationship with Jesus as their Savior. It is not necessary for staff to be members of First Baptist Church, however, they must be active members of a church whose beliefs are not in conflict with those of First Baptist Church.
Since teachers are in a position of influence over the students that they teach, they are held to high moral standards and conduct. It is important that each student can see Jesus reflected in the attitudes and actions of his or her teacher.
In addition to character standards, it is essential that a teacher be fully qualified to teach the subject for which he/she has been assigned. Each teacher in our school has at minimum a bachelor’s degree or 120 hours of college credit in education or a field related to the content which they are teaching. Ongoing education is required to maintain their certification to teach in non-public schools.
