First Baptist School exists to glorify God and to assist Christian families to educate and disciple their children. We seek to produce students who have the social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual competencies needed to embrace and articulate a Biblical world view and to make an impact on their culture for Christ.
Under the parents’ delegated authority, a Christian teacher guides students to think and live according to Scripture. This is a high calling indeed! We seek to model love for God, as well as love for learning to each of our students. We view our students as individuals with unique gifts and needs and strive to teach them as such. We seek to make knowledge attractive to students by providing a broad range of age-appropriate teaching methods and resources.
Learning is a hard but wonderful privilege. It is an incremental process, whereby teachers link new information to previously learned skills and knowledge. The goal of learning is to gain wisdom, as defined by the Bible: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding.” (Psalm 111:10) In each subject we are teaching students to master the tools of learning, not just the facts, with the goal of producing disciples who love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.
